Flown 6/2002 - 7/2003.
Since shipping costs were so high relative to the ship itself,
I bought two, intending to fly the first to destruction. This took
longer than expected, but eventually the nose was a fragmented fractal
mess barely able to contain the electricals and it was time to retire.
Actually, to recycle the undamaged un-CA-permeated foam into patches
for body two point oh (and later non-Picojets as well).
This time I inserted CF spars as the first building step, not the last.
One long spar the length of the keel, far into the nose;
two other spars along the top of the nose, between the foam and the
ABS liner, embedded deep in the foam farther aft. ABS liner left protruding
up for strength, not trimmed to invisibility as the manufacturer suggests.
CF rods inside the ABS liner, right up to the tip of the nose.
15 cm CF rods at the wingtips, aiming in 45 degrees: wingtips still look
virgin after dozens more cartwheels.
