Built from scratch (ok, we didn't mine the ore) circa 1982 by Tom McEwen
with my token assistance with soldering and lathe work.
Tom was an inspiring teacher at
St Michael's Choir School.
I'm told that he built about forty of these for students through the years.
Steam engines can't stall or "flood" or conk out.
They give full torque right down to zero rpm.
And they sound so charming!
Sailed 2002-12-31.
